The Romanian community from Portugal has three principal associations: Romanian and Moldavian Immigrants Association “Fratia” from Setúbal, Romanian and Moldavian Community Association- ACIRMA from Moura and Romanian and Moldavian Immigrants Association from Algarve. The Romanian Orthodox Church has also three centers:  “The Entrance in Church of the Virgin Mary” Chapel from Lisbon, “Three Saint Hierarchs” house of worship from Setúbal and “Saint Sebastian” Church from Faro. 

On the 9th of April 2001 the Camões Institute from Lisbon inaugurated a Portuguese Cultural Centre as part of the Department of Foreign Languages from the University of Bucharest. A department of Portuguese Studies has also been created at the „Ovidius” University of Constanta. Moreover, in 2005 it was re-activated the Course in Romanian Language and Culture at the Romance Language Department of the University of Lisbon (FLUL), according to a protocol signed by FLUL and the Romanian Language Institute from Bucharest. Besides, a Course in the Romanian Language is being taught at the University of Porto. Upon the request of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in March 2006 the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs approved the creation of the Romanian Cultural Institute of Lisbon (ICRL), which was officially inaugurated on the 23rd of March 2007.
