Serra de Estrela is a granite rock mountainous region, situated in mainland Portugal, between Castelo Branco and Guarda districts. The Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela is located near Covilhã, Seia, Manteigas, Guarda and Gouveia and covers around 100.000 ha. It is about 100 km long and reaches 1.993 meters at its maximum peak. Torre is the highest point of the Continental Portugal and the second highest crest from the Portuguese Republic, after Mount Pico (2.351 meters, Azores). There are three rivers that cross the area: Mondego, the longest portuguese river, Zêzere and Alva.
